The Lapidary Museum is sited in the former church of Santa Libera and has a rich collection of Roman works in marble from the province of Ferrara. There is much funeral masonry exhibited, which dates from the early part of the 1st Century A.D. to the 3rd Century A.D. This is the period in which the custom of writing on stone and marble began to die out throughout the Roman world. The large sarcophagus of the Aurelii from the 3rd Century A.D. is a real masterpiece from Ravenna, while the small one of the child Neon is from Voghenza.
