This house is where Ludovico Ariosto spent his later years, devoting himself to the third and final edition of Orlando Enraged, published in 1532. Built to the design of Girolamo da Carpi, it is simple but elegant. There is a small museum dedicated to the poet and his works, while another room preserves the bronze cast of his inkstand, many of his works and many medals he won including one that was found in his tomb in 1801. In the visitor’s books are the signatures of King Vittorio Emanuele III, Giuseppe Verdi, Alberto Moravia, and Elsa Morante.
