The town of Gignese near Lake Maggiore is famous for one of the most used items in the world, the umbrella. The town boasts a curious museum which is dedicated to the history of umbrellas, the industry, and umbrella making. Some of the finest umbrellas, parasols and umbrella makers are from this fascinating little town.
