Giardino di Boboli has been greatly extended over the centuries; now one of the garden walks leads visitors to a captivating spot with the famous Isoletto, an island of lemon trees and sculptures. Also here is the Buontalenti grotto (1583-1593) with scenes from Greek and Roman mythology as well as copies of Michelangelo’s famous ‘Slave’ series. A pond was added to the gardens in the 17th Century with a fountain and a statue of Neptune, and in the 18th Century Zanobi del Rosso added the Kaffehaus pavilion.
