The tourist area of Gardone Riviera sits on the western shore of Lake Garda and is a popular base for seeing the rest of Italy’s largest lake. The little piazza slopes down to the shore and harbour, and the tree-lined lakeside promenade, lined with benches, is decorated with exquisite flowerbeds. A short stroll from the lakeshore is the medieval borough Gardone Sopra - the old historic centre of the village with its intimate restaurants and courtyards. During the tourist season, a shuttle bus runs between the local museums and sights.
