Gallipoli is famous for its clean sea and fabulous sandy beaches. The windy sea makes it exciting to practice water sports so much so that the ocean in front of Gallipoli is the site of international sail races. Soak up the sun on the fines sands of the Lido San Giovanni just two kilometres south of the town. It has a gently sloping floor into the sea making it ideal for families with children. Gallipoli Bay is enclosed to the south by Pizzo Point, a great sandy beach with fantastically crystal clear sea.
