A Protestant cemetery was built in 1828 in what used to be a quiet part of the city. Roads have now isolated it and which means it is now surrounded by noise from the daily traffic encircling it. There are some very famous people buried here such as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, the art historian Robert Davidson and Gian Pietro Vieusseux. It was closed in 1878, and another Protestant cemetery was built, the Cimitero degli Allori in Via Senese.
