The Embriaci Tower was a monument built as part of the Palazzo Embrici and was commissioned by the Embrici family. This fascinating structure was passed in succession to the Giustiniani, Cattaneo, Sale and Brignole families, who renovated it in the 16th Century. The tower is the tallest in the city and honours the deeds of Guglielmo Embriaco who fought as a captain during the Holy Wars and as a conqueror of the Jerusalem walls in 1099. The Tower was further renovated in 1927.
