The Convento di Santa Maria di Castello is one of the most fascinating religious complexes in the city of Genoa. Construction was started in the middle of the 13th Century by the Dominican fathers and is connected to the church of Santa Maria di Castello. The interior has fabulous works of art and many original features. The complex is made up of three cloisters, the refectory, dormitories, kitchen, infirmary, main library, private gallery, parlours, and the cistern, which is now an exhibition area. The gallery is impressive with a fresco of the Annunciation by Giusto di Ravensburg, dated 1451.
