The ‘Pievania di Verchiano’ was begun in 1100 and completed 200 years later. There has been much remodelling since, with a bell tower added to the original building. The altar has been rearranged about 8 times, coinciding with an inventory dated 14 March 1690 which shows various local families paying for the privilege of maintaining an altar here and having a certain number of masses said in the church each year. There is a stoup and font commissioned from D. Antonio Ricci in 1604 and at the main altar, a painting of the Assunta, by Andrea Generoli.
