Church of SS.Cosma e Damiano
Vico S.Cosimo, 16 Genoa 16123 - Italy

Map

The 16th Century church of SS.Cosma e Damiano is probably the only Romanesque Genoese church that has been well maintained. The tower is similar to that of Church of S. Donato and has well preserved three shallow apses. Made from Roman materials, there is a portal on the façade and a tomb called the Barisone, in memory of a famous spy in the war between Genoa and Pisa. He was arrested when found out and put under house arrest in a palace adjacent to the church, where he later died. Of particular interest is the sepulchre for Barbers and Surgeons.
