This church of S.Giovanni di Pre is connected to a neighbouring Pre’ insignia building. Begun in 1180 with pre-Lamica masters; the building is commemorated by a plaque on the wall and the Ministry for cultural heritage has recently restored it. There are two churches, one of which stands above the other but are mutually dependent on each other. The smaller church, with three naves, occupies the central nave of the larger one, with a splendid Romanesque bell tower. There’s an entrance to the larger church in the apse since 1731 when Knights of the Order of Malta allowed entry.
