Erected for Augustinian monks, the church of N.S. della Consolazione and S.Vincenzo was built between 1684 and 1706. Other changes took place throughout the years up to the 19th Century when Via XX Settembre was built. Set in the part of the city between the 14th Century bastions and the Fronti Basse del Bisagno. With three large naves adorned with 19th Century frescoes and a 14th Century Crucifix hung over the altar by S.M. di Castello. There is an Oriental market next to the church, located in the church’s only cloister since 1899, a favourite of the Genoese ‘messaie’.
