The Chiesa di San Francesco was built on the previous site of a Franciscan complex in 1594. It is the creation of Biagio Rossetti, with a brick façade marked by marble and terracotta lesenes and elegant scrolls. This is a large church with eight chapels on each side but still gives the impression of unity and peace. There is a beautiful fresco created by Garofalo ‘The Capture of Christ’ from 1524. Next to a rare altarpiece sculptured in stone is another fresco ‘Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane’.
