Rebuilt in the 17th Century when the Benedictine monks arrived, the Chiesa di S. Marta was originally founded in the 8th Century. Though once situated in a scared wooded area of the time, this beautiful church is now surrounding by modern buildings. It has three naves and a rich Baroque look with an important series of frescoes created by P.G. Piola, V.Castello, G.B. Carlone and D. Fiasella. There is also a fantastic marble group ‘Saint Martha in Gloria’ which can be found in the apse and which was created by Filippo Parodi - an important Genovese sculptor.
