The Villa Spada, built on the ancient estate of Marquises Zambeccari, dates back to 1774. The Marescotti family bought the villa in 1811, which then passed to the Levi family. The Southern façade bears the crest of the Spada family who purchased the villa in 1820. By 1849 Austrian troops had made it their headquarters and it is said they imprisoned Ugo Bassi and Giovanni Livraghi in the medieval tower, caught after the collapse of the Roman Republic.
