Built in 1905 in a Neo-classical style, the Villa Lysis is situated near the archaeological site of the Villa Jovis. It is owned by Capri Town Council and was named Villa Lysis in honour of the young friend of Socrates mentioned by Plato in the Dialogue on Friendship. The villa’s original name was Villa Fersen after its poet and writer owner, Fersen d’Adelsward. There is a large garden with a portico and ionic columns and inside is a marble stairway.
