Villa Fedora in Baveno was built in the 19th Century by Giacinto Mannati. It is set in a beautiful English-style garden which slopes down to the shores of the lake. Umberto Giordano, the well-known composer, lived here from 1904 to 1924 and wrote his opera ’Fedora’ here. The villa is divided into two wings and has over fifty rooms. One façade faces the lake and has columns with a portico between the upper and lower floors and large windows with green shutters. The garden, which is open to visitors during the summer, has oaks, camellias, mimosa, and azaleas.
