The Villa Comunale is a beautiful 19th Century garden in Caltagirone. It was created by the architect Basile who based his design on English gardens. The part next to Via Roma has an ornamented balustrade topped with vases with macabre faces and green pinecones and majolica light stands. The garden consists of many shaded pathways which open out into secluded spaces decorated with fountains and ceramic sculptures. Of particular note is the area around the bandstand which is decorated in a Moorish style with glazed panels of majolica.
