The Villa Cerami building is the grandiose residence of Prince Rosso di Cerami and is one of the most important historical constructions in Catania. It was erected a few years after the 1693 earthquake in a spot overlooking the city. Built with a sophisticated Baroque style and modified many times, it was the architect Carlo Sada in the 19th Century who changed the façade and interior. However a lot of the work was removed during renovation to the villa when it became the home of the Catania University in 1957.
