The Victory Monument can be found between Piazza Vittoria and the Talvera Bridge. This tall, elegant structure with its central columns was built by Marcello Piacentini who was considered to be the ‘official’ architect of the Fascist regime. Piacentini, who also designed Rome University, intended the Arch of Triumph to commemorate the victory of the Italian army over Austria in the First World War. The sculpture work on the monument is by Adolfo Wildt, Libero Andreotti, Arturo Dazzi and Pietro Canonica.
