St. Michael the Archangel
Via Tarantini, Brindisi - Italy

Map

The Church of St. Michael the Archangel is sited close to the cathedral. The interior has a single nave with lateral chapels. Perhaps its most distinguished feature is the cupola which is built with polychrome bricks. It was bought by the Bishop Francesco De Estrada for educational purposes by the Monks of Scuole Pie in 1664 and St. Pompilio Maria Pirrotti taught here after being ordained in 1734. It was also occasionally used as a gaol. The building is undergoing restoration, along with the monastery rooms, and is now used for cultural events.
