Arco was a popular holiday destination as far back as the 1800s when it became the holiday residence of the Hapsburg dynasty and Vienna’s wealthier classes. It is also known as the ‘Nice of Trentino’ because of its mild climate and so has become a sporting haven. As well as the area’s famous rock and free climbing, there is parasailing and hang gliding, mountain biking, archery, sailing, surfing, swimming, fishing, squash, tennis and horse riding to be found here.
