The cathedral of Santi Gervasio e Protasio was rebuilt on the site of the former parish church and has 9th Century sculptures embedded in the façade. Likely to have been built originally in the 8th Century, there was much remodelling between the 12th and the 17th centuries. The interior has many precious works of art; among them are works by Domenico Alfani, Giannicola di Paolo, and Pomarancio. Here visitors can see two beautiful paintings by Perugino – the Baptism of Christ and the Madonna and Child and Saints Peter, Paul, Gervasio and Protasio.
