The church of Santa Maria Maddalena was built in a neo-classical style by Giovanni Caproni in 1836. The building is designed on a Greek cross plan and houses some earlier works. These include a 16th Century altar piece consisting of a Madonna and Child, St Anthony Abbot and St Mary Magdalene by Eusebio da San Giorgio but once thought to have been an early work by Raphael. There is also some fine stucco-work here by Piervittori. Every two years, the international kite-fliers’ meeting, known as ‘Let’s colour the skies’ is held here.
