The present day shape of Santa Cecilia della Croara dates back to the 1800s although first mention in documents of a monastery here goes back to 1095. There are still traces of the pictorial decoration - a roundel with a notable figure of the ‘Madonna and Child’, which is believed to be the work of Lippo di Dalmasio, and some fragments of fresco. There are some paintings, attributed to the School of Guido Reni, representing Saint Antonio from Padova and a beautiful altarpiece depicting Jesus by Hannibal Carracci.
