The Sanctuary Madonna del Belvedere is situated just outside of Carovigno in a peaceful setting. The church was built in 1500 and is a regular destination for pilgrims. The present style is Neo-classical and was renovated in 1875 at the wish of Alfredo Dentice. Under the building are natural caves on two levels which are connected to the church via a stairway of 47 steps. Along the stairway are frescoes from the 1500s. The oldest frescoes, from the 14th and 15th centuries, are in the lower crypt with the latter on the Baroque altar.
