San Francesco church with its adjacent convent was built in 1275 and can be located at the highest part of the town of Bevagna. The front was never quite finished but still has a lovely portal which is original. The inside was remodelled in the Baroque style during the mid-18th Century and has a 16th Century fresco by Ascensidonio Spacca, (called Fantino di Bevagna) in the Cappella del Sacramento as well as work by Dono Doni. Very interesting is the stone on which Saint Francis stood during his sermon to the birds at Pian d’Arca.
