San Domenico is the largest church in the town of Citta di Castello. This enormous preaching church was built by the Dominicans in the 15th Century but later remodelled. The façade was left unfinished and the handsome door on the left side leads into a rather gloomy interior. There are some attractive 15th Century frescoes lining the nave and the choir stalls. Signorelli’s ‘San Sebastiano’ once hung in the Renaissance chapel by the altar, along with Raphael’s ‘Crucifixion’ but this is now in the National Gallery in London and the one here is a copy.
