The Savoy family commissioned the Public Gardens in 1799 during a stay on the island. It is one of most beautiful, popular areas of the city of Cagliari. Work began on the gardens in 1819 and was completed by 1829 at the same time as the viale Buoncammino and viale Regina Margherita. In 1839 the municipality bought the area and carried out further modifications: the present aspect dates back to the Second World War. On the side facing towards viale San Vincenzo, there is a beautiful view of the city.
