The neo-classical Piccinni Theatre with its colonnaded front entrance is dedicated to the renowned 18th Century Barese composer Niccolò Piccinni (1726-1800). It was opened in the 1900s, having taken 14 years to complete. Since the city’s other old theatre, the Petruzzelli was damaged by fire it’s the only historic theatre building in Bari still in operation. The venue is home to one of the nation’s widest range of programmes dedicated to prose, concerts and opera.
