The Piazza S. Domenico is situated at the end of Via Cavour in Acireale. This small but popular piazza is home to several interesting buildings including a church with a lovely Baroque façade. The 17th Century Palazzo Musumeci is also here and has wrought-iron balconies and rococò windows. Close to the piazza is the Biblioteca Zalantea, the town library, with art gallery annexed. This holds the plaster model for the statue of Acis and Galatea (found now in the gardens of the Villa Comunale) by Rosario Anastasi, and the 1st Century BC Busto di Acireale – a bust of Julius Caesar.
