Just a short walk from the church of San Francesco is this Vitelli palace which was erected in 1540. The ruling Vitelli family had a great many palaces. This one, the very elegant Palazzo Vitelli a Porta Sant’Egido, was built by Giorgio Vasari near to the Collezioni Burri. The palace has a beautiful symmetrical façade which faces onto a huge garden, and an interior lavishly frescoed by Cristoforo Gherardi (II Doceno) and Prospero Fontana. The building is now owned by a bank and used for concerts.
