The Palazzo della Corgna – or Ducale Palace – was built in 1563 for the della Corgna family. It was originally a small royal palace, surrounded by a luxuriant garden and isolated from the rest of the village. The design is attributed to both Vignola and to Alessi. It consisted of two habitable towers in the 13th Century, and then became a hunting lodge for the Baglioni family in the 16th Century. The museum has frescoed rooms by Pomarancio. The story goes that on every anniversary of Ascanio’s death (3 December) his ghost appears in front of the Palace.
