Palazzina della Viola dates from the late 15th Century and has a quadrangular layout, three fronts and a double open gallery. The frescoes here date back to the 1540s and are painted in a Raphael style with mythological scenes. On the ground floor is a ceiling decorated with heads and other subjects which is attributed to Amico Aspertini. On the first floor are 16th Century frescoes by Prospero Fontana depicting the lives of Pope Sylvester and Emperor Constantine. The building was acquired by the Government of the Italian Republic in 1803 for the Faculty of Agriculture and the Botanical Garden.
