The Parish church of Gries, with its tall narrow spire, holds a few surprises for visitors. The church was founded in the 15th Century and sits in an idyllic position. There are two beautiful treasures housed within its walls. The first is the stunning altar which was created by Michael Pacher between 1471 and 1475. It is widely considered to be the very best example of a casket and hatch remaining today. The second ‘must-see’ is a 13th Century Romanesque wooden crucifix, which is though originated from Northern France.
