The museum is located on the second floor of an apartment where composer Vincenzo Bellini was born in 1801. Bellini’s famous works include La Straniera, Sonnambula, Norma, I Puritani, and I Cavalieri. Visitors can view original folios of his operas, his death mask, harpsichords and the spinet pianos he rehearsed on as a child, also the coffin in which his body was transferred back to Catania in 1876 from its original burial place near Paris. Many of the mementos of his life were donated by Rossini, a devoted fan.
