Mother Church

The Mother Church in Adrano is situated close to the castle. It is dedicated to the Virgin of the Assumption and was built over several periods; the original structure dating back to the 16th Century. The cupola and the campanile were constructed in the 18th Century. Inside the church has a Latin-cross plan with three naves. Works of art include a wooden polyptych showing the Eternal life, the Holy Family, the Incredulity of Saint Thomas and the Saints. There are some lovely chapels - those of the Blessed Sacrament and of the Sacred Heart are particularly notable.
