The Montagnola Park is the most ancient park in Bologna and covers a surface area of about six hectares in the San Vitale district. Dating back to 1805 it was opened under Napoleon, although it had partially opened to the general public as early as 1662. This is truly a beautiful park with its magnificent 19th Century flight of steps at the entrance to the park; there are many century old plane trees, and rows of lime trees and horse chestnut trees.
