The Modern and Contemporary Art Museum focuses on the interaction between German and Italian cultural traditions. It was founded in 1987 and shares the building with the Free University of Bolzano. The centre exhibits art collections in house as well as proposing open air exhibitions in the town’s streets. Because of lack of space, a new building is being built on the banks of the Talvera, quite close to the current museum and designed by KSV Krüger, Schuberth and Vandreike of Berlin.
