The Medieval Castle of Calatabiano was a hive of activity during the 15th Century. One of the most elegant rooms is near the middle of the courtyard with two windows overlooking the Alcantara Valley. The hall contains a precious 15th Century arch fashioned from lavic stone with the insignia of Cruyllas and Aragoneses. There is a small chapel with the apse and wall of calcareous stone. The castle has undergone recent restoration including repairs to interior rooms and parts of the curtain walls.
