Mareccio Castle is believed to date back to the early 13th Century. It was bought by the Römer family in 1447, and is now surrounded by vines that produce the local wine. The courtyard has a loggia and four corner towers, added in the 16th Century in Renaissance style. It has been restored by the Bolzano Tourist agency and is now home to a congress centre and used for various exhibitions and concerts. Inside are frescoes of the Italian Renaissance School from 1565. Gothic frescoes in one of the towers show emblems of noble 16th Century Tyrolean families.
