Issogne Castle was restored in the 15th Century thanks to Prior of Sant’Orso, Giorgio di Challant, giving it a Renaissance look. There’s a famous octagonal fountain with a wrought iron pomegranate tree located in the courtyard. Notable art work decorates the entrance hall and hunting scenes painted in the Flemish style hang in the Baronial Hall of Justice. Those of the 50 rooms open to visitors include: the kitchens, the first-floor chapel, the weaponry hall with 16th Century exhibits, King of France’s room on the second floor with the motto Vive le Roi, and the original Gothic styled four-poster bed.
