The Town Hall of Acireale dates back to 1659. It has attractive wrought-iron balconies which are supported on richly decorated brackets and are decorated with masks and gargoyles. Set at one end of Via Davì the façade of the 17th Century Palazzo Modò bears the name Eldorado which was the name of the theatre that once occupied the site in the early 20th Century. The Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul has an elegant façade with a single belfry.
