In the 14th Century, this complex included a church, a monastery, and a cloister styled to Gothic design. Visitors come here to see the splendid Nativity Altar with a beautifully engraved casket and hatches by Hans Klocker circa 1500, in the church choir stall. The cloister can be reached from the left side and is lavishly decorated with frescoes by the Giotto school (1330-40). The story goes that Saint Francis, when visiting the town of Bolzano as a young man, frequented the chapel of Sant’Erardo.
