The European Resistance Movement Memorial can be found in Como. It was installed in 1982 by the Italian President, Sandro Pertini. The sculpture is the work of Gianni Colombo of Milan. It is comprised of large metal plates which are inscribed with passages from letters written by those who died for the ideals of the Resistance. This unique monument has a strong and emotional impact with its symbolic staircases which lead the onlooker to the letters.
