The Etna Natural Preserve that was founded in 1987 is the first of its kind in Sicily. There is a spectacular view of the ‘Mongibello’ that is linked to the attraction and evocative images of powerful eruptions and lava flows from the great volcano. This is all fascinating territory and is protected by the Etna Natural Park. The park protects many species, like wolves, wild pigs, fallow deer and roes and natural formations of laricio pine, beech, and birch, which grew on extremely ancient lava flows.
