This Dominican church is considered to be one of the earliest complexes in Gothic style in the province. It was begun in 1270 and there are some notable frescoes here of the Paduan Giotto school, 1330 to 1370. These are particularly fine in the chapel of San Giovanni where visitors can marvel at the ‘Triumph over death’ on the eastern wall. The chapel of Santa Caterina too has beautiful art work, as does the cloister which features 15th Century Gothic frescoes by Friedrich Pache.
