The Daunian Archeological Park is sited on the hill known as Serpent. It was already populated during the Neolithic period and was an important centre for communities of the pre-Roman settlement of Ausculum. The building was used as a sanctuary for public and religious ceremonies and the large floor, with geometric patterns, formed from river cobbles is still visible. At the end of the 4th Century and start of the 3rd Century B.C. it stopped being used for religious ceremonies and became a necropolis for archaeologists.
