Housed on the second floor of Caltagirone’s Civic Museum is a permanent exhibition of contemporary majolica works. In one room is the gilt wood and silver litter of San Giacomo which was used in processions on 25 July right up until 1966. The delicate facial features of the caryatids are worthy of note. In another room is work dedicated to the Vaccaros, two generations of artists who were working during the 19th Century. Of special interest is the Little Girl Praying by Mario Vaccaro. On the museum’s first floor is an art gallery which exhibits works by Sicilian artists.
